Scrapbox

  1. The day you receive the box, post a message in the newsgroup and let us know. Not only will this keep people updated on its progress, but may also get other people interested in participating.
  2. At that time, announce the next two names on the mailing list (in order). The next recipient will have to respond in the group before you mail. If the next recipient fails to respond, move her name to the bottom of the list and mail to the second recipient, provided she has responded to the announcement.
  3. Participants will be limited to ladies who have been active posters to the newsgroup for at least 3 months. There will be no "add-on" participants. They can sign up to participate on the next mailing.
  4. During the time you have the scrapbox, it should be held in a non-smoking area. Unless you have an emergency, if you don’t mail the box within 72 hours, you will not be allowed to participate again. You do not need to send it UPS or Fed/Ex. The postal service should be sufficient. Remember that this isn’t supposed to be costly to you.
  5. To that end, remember to put in ONLY as many items as you take out. This is with the sensible distinction that if you put in a baggie with 30 teddy bear punchies, it should only count as one item instead of 30. While lots of extras are nice, in the interest of keeping the shipping cost to a reasonable amount, please just replace the items you remove and save the extra items for future rounds of the box.
  6. Please do not feel you have to go out and buy new items for the box. "Nearly New" is perfectly acceptable. Of course, the other side of the coin is also true. Do not simply add in junk items. We all know that small bits and pieces of paper are the natural by-product of this hobby. We all have lots of these items. They do not need to be put into the scrapbox. Only scrapbooking items should be included in the box. Other craft type materials should be excluded.
  7. If you have particularly heavy items such as magazines, put a note stating it is available in the box and remove an item for yourself. Make sure you include your contact information on the note. When a recipient is interested in your item, she will contact you for shipment. Remember that magazines can be sent media rate mail so the additional cost you will incur will be minimal.
